About the Writer

I teach a variety of English courses at Sacramento City College, and in 2005, I jumped off the artistic cliff and began actively pursuing a writing career.
I actually enjoyed filing taxes last year because I was able to put “writer” in the occupation box.
Several years ago, I left the city and moved to the forest: I now live on just over two acres in a wildlife preserve. The peace and quiet are golden, and the wildlife is amazing.

Hi Shawn,
I arrived at your site through a link from GrammarPolice. I was unable to find an email link to you, so I suppose this post is the next best thing.
Your material is great! I encourage you to maintain Grammar Police*; it is very helpful and entertaining. Drop me an line if you get a chance.
Ryan
*Note from SHAWN: I have removed this link because I am unwilling to promote the site. I apologize for the censoring, but the brief explanation below should explain things.
Ryan,
I really appreciate your compliments, and I’m going to shoot you an e-mail about this, but the basic problem is Grammar Police was one of two sites I maintained for that network, and I was supposed to be paid for the work.
After seven months, I received only one payment, and it was a rip-roaring $50. While I was never promised an amount, and I took on the sites knowing I’d have to build an audience and get a cut of the advertisement revenue, the bigger issue was a complete lack of timely communication on the part of the person in charge.
Even now I am awaiting a response for a fee negotiation he asked for over three months ago.
The total lack of professionalism is something with which I am unwilling to be associated.
Leave your response!
